When the idea of putting a cross on the tower first came up, we needed a way to test the cross dimensions when looking up at it at an angle. I assumed that the dimensions of this symbol of the Christian faith were fairly standard, but there were hundreds of variations. The ratios of arm length to center piece length were also very different. So, after experimentation, this model made out of pcv pipe was constructed, lights were attached, and it was erected in my neighborhood against the garage at night to see if the proportions looked right. After adjustment were made, the dimensions were sent to the tower fabricator. It is about 18 feet high. - Bob Luton
