Our Mission
As A Non-Profit Corporation…
In a retreat setting in the Spring of 2006
The board of L.C. Orrick Outreach, Inc.
adopted this as our mission…
Encouraging All in Christ
Philippians 2:1-11
Proclaiming Reconciliation in Community
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
We hope it’s clear when you read those passages what our board sees our overall mission to be as an agent of encouragement to all in Christ as we proclaim reconciliation in community.
As a Christian Community Radio Station…
KQLC-LP is privileged to have been granted this opportunity to serve the people of the Brookshire – Pattison area. We are just beginning our mission, but where we are today has taken immense and prayerful work on the part of many volunteers.
Christian Community Radio has at least three layers of meaning.
First, it can be taken to mean “Christian, Community Radio” in that we have a clear purpose rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ which we share with the local community of listeners. This sense underscores our own religious programming like The Hour of Hope and others which bears the mark of our non-profit and the station itself.
Second, it can also be taken to mean “Christian Community” Radio, in that we are the radio station which seeks to serve as a tool of the “Christian Community” of believers and churches in our area (and globally as well) in sharing their own messages of Christian hope and faith and public service announcements of their church events. This reading underscores our serving as a vehicle for local Christian churches and church members to air programming which expresses their Christian faith. In the spirit of these first two meanings, we offer only Christian music in a variety of styles.
Third, it can mean “Christian/Community” radio, because our station exists at the intersection of local community life and the gospel of Jesus Christ. This meaning gives credence to our covering local news, sports, and community events. In so doing, we model the spirituality of everyday life, lived out in community, both “as it is” and living into “how we pray it can be” as a people of faith.
Our twin purposes highlight our desire to cultivate over time, programming which balances the covering of local community events and news with addressing the spiritual needs of all who live in our service area.
